DESCRIPTION


Currently we are looking for a Senior Java Developer with Oracle for our Zurich office to make the team even stronger.

The technical person will assist the senior tech lead and software component manager, who has a strong focus on delivery and who is experienced with UNIX based web application platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Drive renewal of the current solution be it software or even hardware where required;
  • Migrate from locally installed oracle databases to "DB as a service" from Sun Solaris to Linux and to migrate to new infrastructure at the same time (the current solution is globally deployed on approximately 100 servers including development, test and production systems);
  • Combine a continuous reengineering and improvement process where possible;
  • Administrate internal processes and tools to insure quality and security;
  • Oversee infrastructure provisioning and the global solution inventory.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years’ experience in Java back-end development;
  • Experience as an engineer and developer in a globally distributed team;
  • Financial services IT background, preferably in Financial Crimes/AML a plus;
  • Java development, Oracle database and data analysis skills;
  • Excellent communication skills and experience in liaising with other IT teams;
  • Methodology know how on how to ensure that project deliverables meet industry best practices;
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and synthesizing skills (you know how to figure things out);
  • Understanding of a broad range of platforms, technologies and tools, specifically (Java, UNIX/Linux, Oracle, GitHub, TeamCity, Jira, Confluence);
  • Flexible, resilient team player with strong interpersonal skills taking initiative to drive things forward;
  • Able to multitask and work on different projects in parallel, accurate and focused on deliverables;
  • Fluent English is a necessity;
  • German is nice to have.
